Metamorphosis: The Art of Transformation
September 2021
Curated by Sergio Gómez
ABOUT THE EXHIBIT
How does the art we create reflect our own personal growth? As artists and individuals, we are in a constant state of transformation. Our lives continue to shift and evolve with every season, and the work we make tends to mirror these changes. For many of us, our art is a reflection of the lives we live, and often serves as a deeper extension of ourselves. Through art, we are able to visually communicate our transformative states of being. For this exhibit, we sought work that reflects personal growth and evolution across a wide range of visual mediums.
NOTE FROM THE CURATOR
Metamorphosis: The Art of Transformation, as the title of this exhibition suggests, invites us to think and ponder on the many ways we have changed and evolved both recently and over long periods of time. As a guest curator, it was my pleasure and honor to review hundreds of artists works from around the globe. After many days of careful consideration, I made my final selections. What you will find in this online exhibition is a thoughtful representation of ideas, temperaments, styles, techniques, sensitivities and world views as expressed by a handful of talented artists. These works spoke to me in more than one way, making a lasting impression about my very own experience with change and transformation in this world. It is my intention that you also experience each work for what it has to offer us.
