ABOUT
Growing up in Nizhny Tagil, one of the most industrialized and polluted cities in Russia, I witnessed firsthand the devastating impact of human activity on the natural world. From a young age, I saw how unchecked industrialization and pollution could ravage the environment, leaving behind scars that marred the landscape and poisoned the air and water. Despite the grim reality that surrounded me, I found solace and inspiration in the beauty of nature. The trees that stubbornly clung to life amidst the concrete jungle, the fleeting glimpses of wilderness that remained untouched by human hands – these became my refuge and my muse. In the midst of chaos and destruction, I discovered a profound connection to the earth and a deep-seated desire to protect and preserve it.
ARTIST STATEMENT
As an artist, I channel my experiences and emotions into my work, using the power of art to raise awareness about the fragility of our planet and the urgent need for environmental stewardship. Central to my practice is a commitment to sustainability and eco-consciousness. Recognizing the harmful effects of traditional acrylic paints on the environment, I have chosen to eschew these materials in favor of natural pigments mixed with water. This deliberate choice reflects not only my concern for the health of our planet but also my belief in the transformative potential of art as a force for positive change. By using natural colors derived from the earth itself, I seek to minimize my ecological footprint and mitigate the environmental harm caused by conventional art supplies. Moreover, by opting for natural pigments, I aim to challenge the prevailing norms of the art world and inspire others to reconsider their own practices. In a society that often prioritizes convenience and profit over sustainability, I hope to spark a dialogue about the ethical implications of artistic materials and the importance of making conscious choices in our creative endeavors.
